We switched from a downdraft cooktop to the ductless exhaust and are very pleased. We needed something small but powerful to replace the downdraft and this was perfect - the cooktop is in the middle of the room and no avenue for a traditional exhaust since the house is two story. The downdraft negatively affected the gas cooktop by pulling the flame resulting in an uneven heat when it was on. This exhaust works excellent and the smoke alarm has not "gone off" since we installed it. Previously it went off every time we cooked something with a little smoke or steam. Highly recommend
