Love, love, love this range!
By carol97439
I purchased this Fisher Paykel product in May 2010. It was my first experience with a gas range. I chose this particular product because of the features it offered, and I got a super price on it. After a little bit of a learning curve, I have fallen head over heels with it, and would highly recommend it!The 2 ovens are smaller than typical so I did have to buy new baking sheets, as well as retire my old family roaster, but the smaller ovens are better suited for my daily baking needs. I end up heating a smaller oven rather than a larger one. I bake professionally as well, and having the two ovens cuts my production time in half. I previously owned a dual oven/range that had a regular size oven as well as a smaller side oven, but found that I rarely used the smaller oven as it only fit a loaf sized pan. I use the two lower warming drawers for raising frozen pastries overnight as well as heating plates and keeping dinner warm. The six gas burners are super efficient, however it is difficult to simmer on them. I easily resolved this by purchasing a simmer ring for a few dollars that sits on top of the cast grate over the burner...works like a charm. I operate my stove on propane, and it took the plumber a few tries before he got the burner adjustment set correctly, but since then I have had absolutley no problems at all with the unit. I would gladly purchase this unit again.

not so much
By Justin Satinover
loved the way this looked (and had no experience purchasing a range) so i decided this would be a good one, especially since it was a little less expensive than some of the other major brands. it didn't take long for me to realize this wasn't the range for me. first, the ovens are both very small. i had to buy new cookie sheets because my old ones didn't fit and i can't get two round cake pans in the oven unless i want to use separate shelves which as we know doesn't work when trying to bake a layered cake. also, the burners do not have a "simmer" function and even when on the lowest possible flame it burns whatever you're cooking unless you stand over it and stir constantly. also, if you so much as lean up against one of the knobs it starts clicking really fast and you can actually see it trying to light the burners, and not just one! a few try to ignite when you push up on just one one knob. then once you turn the knob and are ready to start your flame, there's a 50/50 chance it will light. most of the time we have to do it a few times and then finally it works. it also makes a lot of noise when baking and continues to make the noise long after you have turned off the oven. i would suggest spending the extra $1,000-$2,000 on something better.

Fisher Paykel 48" dual fuel range
By Ted Cowper
Bought a new 48" dual fuel range. Turned on the oven, and the oven fan came on immediately. The noise was annoying and quite loud. I downloaded the manual and it stated that the fan would come on after the range reached a certain higher tempertature. I thought there was something wrong. I heard two different stories from the company, that it is supposed to be on all the time and that the manual is wrong, and that there is something wrong with the unit. Two service calls later and I am finally told that the manual is wrong, and that if I want to use the oven, I will have to listen to the fan noise all the time, including at warm degree setting. So, I learned to turn off the oven if I wanted to have a conversation with someone, or leave the room. Two problems: lousy design that makes the fan necessary at all temperatures, and a manual that is incorrect! I would advise not buying a Fisher Paykel range unless you are willing to listen to a fan running all the time.
